The performing arts centre at Herefordshire College of Art and Design is expanding to meet the needs of budding musicians.
The college is launching a new national diploma in music practice in September to fill the gap for a recognised qualification in music.
Course leader, Brian Speirs, came to Hereford five years ago to teach on the Performing Arts course.
His career since graduating from Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts has included live performances with INXS and Michael Bolton.
He has worked with young people in the city through the Music Pool, writing and recording, while teaching singing and acting as MD for musicals at the college.
Pete Thorogood, who has worked at the college for three years, will work alongside him.
The majority of the lessons will take place at the college's performing arts at Churchill Gardens, which has well-equipped studios and rehearsal rooms.
Students will develop their music performance skills as an individual performer and in groups, as well as improve skills in music theory and harmony.
There will also be classes in the history of popular music and how the record and entertainment industry operates.
Song writing, composition and learning to use music technology software will also feature.
