IN the year Scottish musical Brigadoon makes its cinematic return, a Droitwich Spa theatre is set to bring it to the stage.
Alan Lerner and Frederick Loewe's Brigadoon, first seen on screen in 1954, will be brought to life at the Norbury Theatre, Friar Street, from Monday, July 4 until Saturday 9.
A professional set has been drafted in for the show, which features a cast of 25.
Piper Cedric Cooper will also feature in the production, 14 years after performing the same role for Malvern Light Opera Society.
Brigadoon, originally starring Gene Kelly and recently released on DVD, follows the story of two American hikers lost in the highlands of Scotland when they stumble on a small town not listed on the map.The magical village of Brigadoon only wakes for one day every 100 years.
One of the hikers, Tommy, falls in love with Fiona, one of the townswomen.
He is afraid to give up everything he knows and she can't leave with him without breaking the spell. How will it all end?
Tickets for the show, directed by Glynis Smith, are £7 and £6, available from the theatre's box office on 01905 770154.
