MICKLETON SOCIETY: Society members enjoyed their summer outing last week to Alscot Park, near Preston-on-Stour. Alscot Park was originally owned by the monastery of Deerhurst, becoming privately owned during the reign of Henry VIII. It was bought by James West in 1747 and the West families have lived there ever since.
At the end of the visit, chairman Paul Johnson thanked Janet Edwards for arranging the visit and Sheila Hilton for taking over the arrangements following Janet's retirement from the committee.
