BIRDS do it. Bees do it. Come Saturday night many of us try it: dancing, to find love.
This story of two Irish emigrants follows their choreographed courtship, though it's altogether more magical than your average night clubbing.
Riverdance opened the floodgates to bring Irish dance firmly into the spotlight. Similarly, Magic of the Dance blends traditional and modern rhythms and, with the story travelling to America, brings some of that stateside style into the equation. A potential brawl between the two cultures meeting for the first time develops into an elegantly feisty dance-off. Eventually learning from each other, the magic is that dance cements friendships as well as love.
The show hurtles towards its inevitable happy ending losing none of the passion felt in earlier dramatic moments and culminates in a crowd-pleasing finale. Perhaps it's not so dissimilar to last Saturday night after all. Magic of the Dance runs until Saturday.
