THE husband of a Worcestershire woman stabbed to death will appear in court today charged with her murder.
Lucy Landry, aged 38, was found at her home on Besford Court estate, Besford, near Pershore, on Monday night. She was taken from the scene by ambulance to the accident and emergency department of Worcestershire Royal Hospital but later died.
A post-mortem examination revealed she died as a result of multiple stab wounds to her chest.
Her husband Harold Landry was arrested near the detached property and after police were granted a 36-hour extension for questioning he has now been charged with murder.
The 63-year-old will appear at Worcester Magistrates Court this morning. The charge follows liaison between West Mercia Police detectives and the Crown Prosecution Service.
Chief Inspector Lee Davenport, the senior investigating officer in the case, said: “West Mercia Police have charged a 63-year-old man with the murder of 38-year-old Mrs Lucy Landry.
“We would like to reassure residents living in the area that this was an isolated incident and that we are not looking for anyone else in connection with Mrs Landry’s murder.
“I would also like to thank local residents for their co-operation and understanding during the course of the investigation so far.”
Mr and Mrs Landry, who are believed to have met on the internet, had been married for more than 10 years.
The couple had lived for some years in a four-bedroom luxury house on the desirable private enclave.
Officers remain at the scene while their investigations continue.
An inquest into the death is expected to be opened and adjourned today.
