AN ice rink set up in Market Square in Evesham proved to be a tremendous success after attracting more than 1,000 people.
The rink turned out to be so popular that the organisers almost ran out of skates.
The town council’s promotions committee trialled the idea to gauge the reaction of the public and it is hoped that it will be brought back.
Councillor Martin Hammon was instrumental in organising the ice rink and was delighted with its success.
He said: “I think it was terrific and want to thank everyone who came along. If we do it again next year, more people will come and enjoy it as word gets around.”
Wychavon District Council chairman Coun Andrew Dyke said: “I think it’s great, the kids seemed to love it and it’s all about having fun and getting people to Evesham.”
