CHURCHES are hoping to give a Christmas present to every homeless person in Worcester – but need help.
St Barnabas, St Wulstan’s and St Michael’s churches are joining together to get as many “Christmas boxes” as they can to provide each person at St Paul’s Hostel and Maggs Day Centre with a gift. They are asking people to cover shoe boxes in festive wrapping paper, and fill them with items such as gloves, scarves, torches, notepads, pens or sweets and biscuits. Each box needs a Christmas card, and to be clearly marked as to whether it is for a man or a woman.
Mary James, who is organising the project, said: “For the 10th consecutive year, we are hoping to provide every homeless person in Worcester with a gift for Christmas Day.”
There will be a short blessing of the boxes on Saturday, December 19, at 11am in St Barnabas Church, Rainbow Hill. Boxes can be left at St Barnabas Church, Rainbow Hill, by Friday, December 18, or call Mary James 01905 455214.
