TOWN councillors are concerned about street collections in Evesham when new laws are brought in next year.
Legislation is due to come into force allowing charities to hold street collections at just 24 hours’ notice.
For many years Wychavon District Council has compiled a list of street collections for the year which is sent to Evesham Town Council for consultation in December.
This enables the council to know when street collections are being held – usually one or two a month.
However, with collectors only requiring 24 hours' notice, councillors are concerned that there could be numerous street collections every day.
Coun John Smith said: “If this is the case I suggest we write to Pershore and Droitwich town councils to ask for their views on whether we are happy with these regulations being forced upon us.
"I don’t think it is democratic.”
