THE search is on for the best Christmas lights display in the two counties.
Your Worcester News is looking for the most impressive, electrifying show of festive lights and is, once again, urging people who decorate their homes to get in touch.
Our annual Christmas Lights competition is a huge success every year with dozens of people entering.
This year, all entries must reach the Worcester News offices by Thursday, December 17. Last year’s winners were Martyn and Janine Hones, of Jamaica Road, Malvern.
The couple light up their back garden in memory of their daughter Jasmine, who was stillborn in 2001. Every year family and friends donate lights to Jasmine instead of giving gifts.
Thirty-five-year-old Mrs Jones said it was a positive way to remember their beloved child. She said: “We can’t buy her Christmas presents. We don’t put presents on her grave because it’s been vandalised in the past. This is something we can do. I guess it’s a way of dealing with the loss.”
Our competition is a chance for people to tell the world why they decorate their homes.
We want to see the best, biggest and brightest displays the two counties have to offer. To enter, send a photo of your home or garden illuminations to the Worcester News as soon as possible. We can also send our photographers to you.
The overall winner will receive a light decoration worth £100 and an additional £100 vouchers from competition sponsor Webbs Garden Centre, in Wychbold near Droitwich. The two runners-up will each get a £50 Webbs voucher.
