CHILDREN at a Worcestershire school spent an afternoon in forest school chasing and catching their dreams.
The youngsters from the Burlish Park Primary School in Stourport were inspired by Roal Dahl’s book The BFG in which the giant makes a net to catch the children’s bad dreams.
Forest school leader Lynda Williams said: “The children made their dream catchers out of wool and natural materials found in forest school. We talked about how dream catchers originated from the Native Americans and how good writers often borrow ideas from each other. The outdoor classroom is an important part of the curriculum and we encourage children to interact with the natural environment as often as possible.
“While chasing their dreams the children were not only enjoying themselves but learning to use their imagination, which was reflected in their writing later. The dreams they caught were bottled in jars and are sitting on the shelf of our year 4’s Roal Dahl display.”
