RAFFLE prizes including a pair of boxing gloves signed by Joe Calzaghe will be up for grabs at a fund-raising rugby match in Upton.
The match, between Upton Veterans and the Severn Vale Barbarians, will remember former player Justin Morton and former coach Robin Foley, who died of cancer within months of each other in 2007.
Tim Badger, a friend of the pair and organiser of the match and raffle on Sunday, December 13, said: “It will be all the old boys who played with Justin and were coached by Robin so it’s a team of 10 years ago.”
Mr Badger described Justin as “one of the finest rugby players Upton has produced” and said Robin was known for his skill as a coach.
He added: “Justin was a real character on and off the pitch. He always led the singing and the partying.”
Other raffle prizes available at the Morton-Foley Memorial Match, at Upton Rugby Club, will be signed Saracens and Wasps shirts and four tickets to any home game of Worcester Rugby Club.
Kick-off will be at 2.30pm and any money raised during the day will go towards St Richard’s Hospice. There will also be a pig roast.
Mr Badger is also seeking to make contact with anyone who played with Justin or were coached by Robin.
They can call him on 07974 392696.
