BUSINESSES received a seasonal makeover for this year’s shop window competition held in Malvern.
The annual contest sees traders decorating their windows to create a colourful focal point for the town.
First prize this year went to Iapetus, Belle Vue Terrace, which brightened up its frontage with a “winter wonderland” scene featuring a floating snow queen.
Anna Brook, director at the art and jewellery store, said: “We filled the window up with snow and had lots of little glass tea lights called snowballs, so it was very icy and wintry.
“We were absolutely delighted when they walked in and told us we had won.”
Second prize went to Malvern Country Meals, Church Street, third prize went to Kalliste, Belle Vue Terrace, and fourth prize went to the Knitting Parlour, Graham Road.
Lyndsey Davies, events and operations officer for Malvern Town Council, said: “The traders window competition was by far the best effort the traders have put in.
“The standard was extremely high and one can tell that a lot of time, energy and thought had gone into the windows.
“The judges, CBBC’s SMART presenter Mike Fischetti and chairman of the town council Paul Tuthill, found it very difficult to separate the windows from one another. However, as always, there were distinct winners. The judges appreciated the traders efforts in brightening up the town and giving it a real Christmas feel.”
