A SANTA’S Grotto set up by flood defence campaigners in Kempsey has had to move - because the original location has been flooded.
The event, which has been organised by the Kempsey Flood Action Group, was supposed to be held at the Rocky conservation area but it is now under water from the River Severn and Hatfield Brook.
The grotto will now be created in the grounds of St Mary’s House in Squires Walk on Sunday, where families will be able to meet Santa and join in with carol singing between 5pm and 8pm.
Christmas trees will also be on sale to those who attend the event.
Entry is £3 per person, or £10 for four people. The price includes admission to the event, a small present for each child and refreshments.
The event was organised by the group who are campaigning to secure funding for a flood alleviation scheme for Kempsey.
The village is on a shortlist drawn up by the Regional Flood Defence Committee, which will make a final decision on where funding is allocated on Wednesday, January 13 2010.
