THE president welcomed members to our November meeting.
The group carol service is at St Stephen’s Church on December 12 and also in December is St Peter’s Christmas meeting to which we have been invited.
It is Oak Apple’s turn to send a delegate to the annual meeting in Cardiff next year and Margaret Duffy will be attending. There is a craft fair in March with the theme “All things bright and beautiful”.
Rosemary read out a letter from the Rev Tony Price thanking us for the donation and all the hats we had knitted for the Port of Bristol Seafarers Centre.
For our next project we are collecting old bras as these can be converted into cash in support of the new breast care unit at the Worcester Hospital.
Rosemary Wilmore and Maggie Carpenter served us with refreshments, while certain members were demonstrating their various skills. There were cards made from paper quilling and ivy folding, patchwork place mats, angels made from interfacing and lace and some icing Christmas cake plaques which we could buy.
The competition was for a Scottish souvenir and this was won by Judith with a Gretna Green spoon accompanied by a photograph of her husband and daughter taken some years ago outside the Gretna Green centre.
We have invited visitors to our December meeting when a choir will be entertaining us. We meet the third Tuesday of each month at 7.30pm when visitors and new members are always welcome.
