AFTER growing an impressive beard for charity throughout November, a Worcester man is set to shave it off.
John Chapman, of Claines, raised £608 with his articulated beard, which has been red, pink and is currently bleached blond. He was one of many Royal Mail managers in the Midlands to grow a beard and moustache last month in aid of men’s health awareness, especially prostate cancer.
Mr Chapman said: “Some 35,000 men are diagnosed with prostate cancer every year and my job is to raise as much money as I can.
“A colleague of mine has this cancer so it’s a cause quite close to our hearts.”
Altogether, the Midlands group raised £1,700.
Mr Chapman said he was amazed at how much money had been raised, especially with other charity events such as Children in Need taking place.
