A MEETING to discuss how recession has affected Worcestershire has been hailed as a success.
More than 60 economic leaders, from business owners to council officers, attended the Global Slowdown, Local Solutions 2 event.
There were stands offering advice and support for those who have been affected by the credit crunch, as well as a Q&A session which gave attendees a chance to quiz members of the county’s Economy Action Group about the efforts being made to help.
During the meeting Worcestershire County Council and Jobcentre Plus signed a Local Employment Partnership pledge and agreed to support unemployed people by creating more job or work experience opportunities.
Trish Haines, chief executive of Worcestershire County Council and chair of the Economy Action Group, said: "This was a very valuable event that allowed us to explain all of the work that's going on to help the local economy.
“Worcestershire is in a good position for recovery when economic conditions improve, but we all need to work together and show strong leadership to make it happen.
“I'm delighted that so many people attended and showed their commitment to our local economy."
