AN eight-year-old Worcestershire girl has been chosen by ex-G4 member Mike Christie to sing at his Christmas concert in Birmingham.
Chloe Davies, a pupil at Burlish Park Primary School, Stourport, will perform solo at St Paul’s Church on Saturday, December 12.
She sent Mr Christie – formerly of the band, which made it to The X-Factor finals – a tape of her singing after he appealed for young West Midlands vocalists to appear at the show.
“She was delighted,” said Chloe’s mum, Donna. “She thinks it’s so great to be singing in Birmingham – it’s a really good opportunity, though she’s a bit nervous.”
Mr Christie had been impressed when he watched Chloe wow the crowds at a Kidderminster Town Hall tribute concert in September for Trimpley woman Emily Jordan, who died in a riverboarding accident in New Zealand. She made her first town hall appearance in February at a Leukaemia Care fund-raising show alongside popular performer, Beth Dunn, who has been giving Chloe singing lessons.
Chloe also won the under- 11s category at Stourport’s Got Talent last month and came second in the final, ahead of some adult performers. “It’s amazing what she has achieved at such a young age,” Mrs Davies said. “She has been singing ever since she could talk.”
The Christmas concert, which starts at 7.30pm, will have a mix of songs, including some of Mr Christie’s own compositions.
Mr Christie explained he wanted to use the event to showcase a talented young singer, in the way he got his break when G4 were runners- up on The X Factor.
