A DISABLED boy has had his new adapted bike security- marked to help prevent it being stolen following a spate of bike thefts in the area.
Eight-year-old Lewis Clarke, of Horsebridge Avenue, Badsey, near Evesham, wanted to keep his specially- adapted German bike safe from thieves.
Lewis and his family asked for advice from local community support officer Phil Schoenrock about how to protect the bike.
CSO Schoenrock, of Evesham rural south local policing team, said: “Five bikes were recently stolen from homes near where Lewis lives and his family were afraid that the same thing might happen to this very special bike that Lewis has had to wait a long time for.”
Three of the bikes have so far been recovered by West Mercia Police.
The CSO teamed up with the Evesham branch of Halfords where manager Alex Cale provided a chemical security marking system for Badsey First School pupil Lewis.
Evesham rural south local policing team’s Gail Greenhouse and CSO Schoenrock are planning a cycle awareness day at Badsey Village Hall in January.
