UNUSED textbooks are being sought by a charity which sends them out to schools in Africa.
READ International is a student-led educational charity operating in 22 universities across the UK.
They collect unused high-quality textbooks from UK secondary schools and send them to secondary schools in Tanzania and Uganda.
This year the charity is aiming to collect 25,000 textbooks from around 50 schools in Worcestershire and Warwickshire to send to Mtwara,Tanzania.
Yurka Murata said: “We are especially interested in Key Stage 3 textbooks in English, Maths, Sciences and Geography as they teach the old O-Level syllabus in Tanzania with exams in English.
"Fiction books, reference books and A-Level textbooks are also welcome as there are a few A-level schools and libraries in the region.
"And lastly, if schools have unused science equipments that they wish to donate that would be fantastic as most Tanzanian students never see test tubes and such until the day of their practical exam.”
For more details or if you can help find a place to store the textbooks until they are shipped out in May should e-mail warwick@readbookproject.org.uk or visit readinternational.org.uk
