AN environmental group aiming to re-establish ancient forest is looking for help to plant trees.

Malvern Community Forest working with Ravenshill Nature Rangers - a children’s group based at Ravenshill Nature Reserve, in Alfrick - want to plant 200 trees on Saturday, December 5.

The push to dig the trees in is happening between 10am and noon.

Organisers are looking for 40 eager volunteers to plant five trees apiece.

The event is part of a world record attempt to plant as many trees in one hour as possible, with the current record standing at 653,143.

There will a goodies giveaway with T-shirts, eco-shopping bags and booklets all donated by the BBC.

After the planting there will be a short guided walk around the reserve.

Children are more than welcome as long as they bring along an adult and stout footwear, or wellingtons and a spade are the only other requirements.

Meanwhile, if you have some land and would be interested in planting trees contact Phil Hopkinson, community forest chairman, on 01684 574865 or email pahoppy@btinternet.com
