FATHER Christmas is making a flying visit to a Worcestershire village after answering a call from flood campaigners.
Kempsey Flood Action Group (FLAG) has created a special grotto for Santa Claus ready for his visit on Sunday, December 6, between 5pm and 8pm.
The grotto is at the Rocky – the wooded conservation area alongside Hatfield Brook, in Church Street.
Families will be able to meet the man in red and join in with carol singing.
Entry is £3 per person or £10 for four people.
Admission includes a small present for each child and refreshments including biscuits, squash, homemade mince pies and mulled wine.
Christmas beer from a number of local breweries will also be on sale together with Christmas trees from Hartlands Plant Centre.
Barry Kislingbury, fund-raising chairman, said: “It’s the perfect setting for a Christmas wonderland.
“We’re planning to dress and light the trees and families will go over the wooden bridge into Santa’s Grotto on the other side.
“We’re hoping that many people will join us for a magical evening.”
FLAG was put together by local residents at the start of the year to campaign for funding for a planned flood defence scheme.
A decision on whether that plan goes ahead is due to be taken in January, 2010.
