A walker has been airlifted to hospital after she was injured on the Malvern Hills.
The woman suffered a fractured ankle and had to be moved up the hill via a fire service all terrain vehicle before being taken by Air Ambulance to Worcestershire Royal Hospital.
West Midlands Ambulance Service was called to St Ann’s Knott, near Happy Valley, at 10.30am today.
A spokeswoman said: “The 42 year old woman had reportedly tripped and fallen whilst walking with a friend.
“She was near to the top of the hill lying on the ground when the rapid response paramedic arrived.
“The air ambulance landed at the top of the hill and the fire service’s eight wheeled vehicle made its way to join the injured woman and the paramedic.
“The woman had suffered a fractured left ankle and was in a lot of pain.
“Crews administered pain relief and her leg was splinted before she was lifted onto the fire service vehicle and transferred up the hill to the awaiting air ambulance.
“The woman was then airlifted to Worcester Royal Hospital for further assessment and treatment.”
