STOURPORT-based IT support and solutions firm OGL Computer held a successful seminar at Worcestershire County Cricket Club’s new Graeme Hick Pavilion and raised money for charity in the process.

The Protect IT event, focusing on data security, encryption and protection for small to medium-sized enterprises from the Worcester, Birmingham and Midlands area, attracted more than 40 companies, with hosts OGL Computer making a donation to St Richard’s Hospice for every company attending.

There was a good turnout due to the high-profile IT security speakers from leading brands CRYPTOCard, Check Point Software Technologies and OGL itself, with topics on the agenda including protecting business networks from hackers, securing against IT data theft and protecting computer servers from down time.

St Richard’s offered bags to seminar visitors to be filled with quality clothing and resold in the charity’s shops throughout Worcestershire.

OGL Computer is leading the drive with a collection from among its 170 employees, due to be delivered to St Richard’s this November.

The hospice was also presented with a special cricket bat, signed by the Worcestershire 2009 team, donated by the seminar’s raffle winner, Jon Kelly of the British Institute for Learning Disabilities (BILD), the charity improving the lives of people with learning disabilities and based in Kidderminster.

Mr Kelly was presented with the bat by the director of WCCC’s Academy and former WCCC player, Damian D’Oliveira. “As a company we are very pleased with the success of the seminar and we are particularly happy that we’ve been able to make a worthwhile donation to St Richard’s Hospice,” said OGL Computer’s operations director, Neil Morris.
