KEEN photographers from Worcestershire Camera Club have clicked their way to success in a prestigious national competition.
The county photographers won best rookie in the Inter Club Photographic Print Competition held in Connahs Quay, Liverpool.
The club, which has 109 members, reached the competition, organised by the Photographic Alliance of Great Britain, by qualifying from a regional round to battle against 33 other clubs from across the country.
After the first round, they finished 12th and so did not make the second round.
However, all the clubs that failed to make the grade then competed for the plate award, which the club won with a score of 71 points for five prints out of a possible 75.
They also won the best rookie award and Malcolm Haynes, from Cotheridge, near Worcester, who has been with the club since the early 1960s, secured an individual silver medal award for a colour print entitled Waiting to Cross.
Vice chairman Peter Jepson said: “The club has been going for more than 100 years and in recent times has gone from strength to strength in external competitions. This is the pinnacle.”
The club meets every Tuesday from September to April at St Stephen’s Church, Barbourne, Worcester, at 7.45pm. Call new members secretary John Lancaster on 01905 391238.
