ALYSN Midgelow-Marsden’s mini workshop Metal Magic clearly appealed to a large number of members and visitors to Worcester’s branch of the Embroiderers’ Guild on Tuesday, November 3.
As spare chairs were found and extra spaces made at tables which filled the room, Alysn set us all to work with individual kits entitled Easy-cheaty Wire Jewellery.
Using pre-knitted wires and beads the packs contained everything needed to make a bracelet, pendant and pair of earrings, together with full printed instructions. There were several colours and styles of beads to choose from, but Alysn soon had everyone absorbed in threading beads onto wire then weaving them into the chosen piece of jewellery, as she worked her way round the room offering advice and encouragement.
Members were able to buy further kits and textile goodies at the end of the session, as well as examine and admire some of Alysn’s striking mixed media works which were also on show.
The next meeting of the Embroiderers’ Guild is on Tuesday, December 2. This will be an opportunity for members to show their work in a Share and Tell session at the Friends’ Meeting House, Sansome Place, Worcester. We offer a warm welcome to visitors and new members.
