YOUNGSTERS with creative flair are being offered £250 to study art.

The Number 8 Community Arts Centre in Pershore has established an annual bursary for young people who want to pursue further study in the arts.

The Ray Steadman Bursary will award £250 to a local student who needs help paying for course materials during their first year of further or higher education in drama, music or art.

It is open to anyone whose home is in the WR10 postcode area.

The bursary is named after centre founder Ray Steadman, who passed away in 2008. Keith Goddard, chairman of Number 8 and a long time colleague of Mr Steadman, said: “Ray had a lifelong interest in the arts and was always keen to encourage young people.

“He would have approved of this award in his name which will help support young people from the area who wish to pursue the arts in years to come.”

Anyone interested in applying for the bursary can get application forms from Number 8 in Pershore High Street or from number8.org.

Closing date for entries is Monday, November 30.
