LOCAL businesses in Worcestershire have joined up to launch a new support group.

Firms in Worcester and Droitwich have come together to set up a small business support group, aimed at helping businesses develop and grow, during the current challenging economic times.

The intention is to allow members to get acquainted, discuss opportunities, learn, and support one another.

A website will give information to small businesses and those thinking of setting up their own company.

Accountants, managers, HR, sales and ecommerce professionals and graphic designers will give advice.

The Worcester and Droitwich Small Business Support Group was due to be launched by David Ledbury, partnership manager at Business Link West Midlands, at a business breakfast this morning, at the Old Rectifying House in Worcester. The group will hold monthly business breakfasts next year. Group organiser Lisa Ventura said: “We wanted to create a community of like-minded business people who would be committed to helping support other businesses especially during this current recession”.

Mr Ledbury said: “Business Link WM is delighted to support the launch of the Small Business Support Group. Our role at Business Link WM is to support local companies to improve the economic performance of the West Midlands and thereby make a contribution to the closing the £10 billion productivity gap in the regional economy. We look forward to working with the Worcester and Droitwich Small Business Support Group and helping them.”
