EIGHTEEN Russian hamsters are in need of new homes.
A pair of adults with a litter of babies were recently handed into the RSPCA Worcester and Mid-Worcestershire branch.
Margaret Layland, who is small animals rehoming co-ordinator and a Worcester city councillor, said: “Although they were sexed and segregated, the damage had already been done and the two adults and five babies very quickly became 18.
“Apart from wanting to find new loving homes for the animals, I would also like to warn people how quickly they reproduce and strongly advise them to have same sex couples.
“The hamsters are currently being looked after by one of our foster carers who handles them every day, so they are very tame and used to being handled.”
Anyone interested in offering a home for some of the hamsters should call Margaret Layland on 01905 421849.
