A NEW park and ride system serving the city centre and hospital needs time to grow, say transport chiefs.
The Sixways park-and-ride in the city’s north-east is a base for two buses and unofficially opened at the end of October.
Derek Prodger, county council cabinet member for transport, said the 450-space car park was 40 per cent full during his visit to formally open the park and ride.
It is serving the No 33 and 34 buses to the city centre and the W2 service to County Hall, Spetchley, via Worcestershire Royal Hospital. Coun Prodger said: “There was a 40 per cent take-up when I went down there which is a good start considering its been open only a couple of weeks.
“It’s positive and a good sign for the future.”
