AN appeal to raise as much money as possible for injured servicemen and women will be running at an opticians in Worcester.
A number of events in aid of Help for Heroes will be taking place at Specsavers over a two-week period starting later this month.
But staff want people to start filling matchboxes with loose change before dropping them off at the store in Broad Street from Saturday, November 21.
A running total will be displayed in-store so people can see the progress being made and anyone unable to fill a matchbox can still make donations.
Other events include a tea, coffee and cake day on Wednesday, November 25, before a major fundraiser will take place in store on Saturday, December 5 - two days after soldiers from 2nd Battalion Mercian Regiment (Worcesters and Foresters) are due to march through the city following this summer’s six-month tour of Afghanistan.
Help for Heroes wristbands and badges will be on sale at Specsavers throughout the fundraising fortnight which will actually end on Monday, December 7.
