A SPRIGHTLY pensioner celebrated her 90th birthday in style with a walk to the highest point of the Malvern Hills.
Rita Tysoe, along with her 92-year-old husband Lionel, decided age was no barrier to enjoying the best views in the county when she set off from her Abbey Road home on Saturday, October 31.
She trekked the steep route to the top of the Worcestershire Beacon, which stands at 1,395 feet above sea level, before posing for a picture to mark the occasion.
She said: “It was no trouble at all. It was a gorgeous day; the sun was shining. We’ve been walkers all our lives.”
It was not the first time the couple have celebrated a birthday with some vigorous exercise, with Mr Tysoe marking his 80th by walking the length of the hills.
They attributed their continued fitness to watching what they ate.
Mrs Tysoe said: “We did not think we would have lived so long if we did not have a good diet.”
Mr and Mrs Tysoe have lived a colourful life including spells in east Africa, and have been married for 67 years.
