TWO thousand households in Worcester are now recycling their garden waste thanks to the city’s new brown bin service.
The service was introduced three months ago.
It costs £30 a year, plus a £10 registration fee in the first year, and in return owners of a brown wheelie bin get their garden waste picked up from the kerbside once a fortnight.
So far this year more than 150 tonnes of garden waste has been collected.
Paul and Carol Walshe, of Sunnyside Road, Barbourne, Worcester, were the proud recipients of the 2,000th brown bin.
Garden waste collections will end this month. The fortnightly collections will resume in February.
Anyone who wants to join the scheme should contact Worcester City Council on 01905 722233.
