THE 80s are back and better than ever – as far as hairstyles are concerned, anyway. For those wanting to go for the stylish buzz cut look, but without the commitment of shaving your hair, Umberto Giannini in Pump Street say they have come up with a solution.
Salon director Shirley Thornhill- Jester said 1980s styles could be created easily and were very versatile. She said: “It will be easy to have this style for those wanting to look good for work, after work, and at special occasions where they want to vamp their look up a bit.”
“We can go from being quite conservative to having something that just looks amazing and will really get heads turning.”
Shirley says this season’s hair style, while based on the 80s era, is more refined than 20 years ago due to the advance in styling products.
“In the 80s you had to get your hair cut and it was a very severe style,” she said. “But it’s not so much about that anymore.
“The style almost has a softer edge and we have straightening irons. People can curl or straighten their hair and they are not stuck with having something that is permanent. But you can do things to your hair that changes your whole look, and that is what these three styles are about.”
Rachel Turner, manager of the salon, added: “This is a great look that can be changed easily and will suit most face shapes and hair cuts. The change in look is quite dramatic and we are sure you can give it a go yourself.”
Pennies at the ready for M&S bazaar
GET your spare change out for another Marks & Spencer special.
On Friday, November 13, the high street giant marks the finale of its 125th birthday year with a Christmas Penny Bazaar, when an exclusive range of M&S Christmas products cost just a penny each.
All M&S stores – including the ones in High Street, Worcester, and Roman Way retail park, Malvern – will take part in the event. M&S chairman Sir Stuart Rose said: “We’ve got millions of products for a penny but we’re expecting a big turnout – so get down to M&S as soon as you can.”
The Christmas Penny Bazaar range includes Christmas socks, card games, children’s puzzles, handkerchiefs, money boxes, tea towels, mugs, notebooks, ties, knickers, key-rings, Christmas chocolates and Yule logs. M&S customers can choose up to five products each. Every penny donated will go towards local charities chosen by the stores involved. The first Penny Bazaar, held in May, raised £200,000.
Christmas Penny Bazaar customers will also get a free voucher booklet offering them three chances to save 12.5 per cent when shopping with M&S over the festive period.
