COUNTRYSIDE campaigner David Bellamy paid a visit to an old quarry site that has been transformed into a green award-winning caravan park.
The Springs Caravan Holiday Park, off Salter’s Lane in Lower Moor, near Pershore, has for the past five years achieved the gold standard David Bellamy Conservation Award, designed to improve levels of conservation, boost biodiversity and reduce the environmental impact of businesses.
The site is owned and operated by Allens Caravans, which bought the working quarry, formerly known as Avon Gravels, in the 1990s before transforming it into a 90-acre caravan park which features a water meadow with frontage to the river Avon and six lakes. An otter holt has been built in the hope the local otter population will move to the lakes.
