PRESIDENT Dot Waldron opened our meeting on Monday, October 12, with a busy half-hour of business. It was decided to hold our Christmas lunch on Wednesday, December 9.
Speaker Rev Peter Holtzapfel, vicar of Kempsey, talked about the poems of John Betjeman. His readings of these entertaining works was unsurpassed. In turn we sympathised with the people of the south and their sorry plight and our hearts bled for the tennis partner of Joan Hunter Dunn.
Peter’s expressive readings, interspersed as they were with amusing anecdotes and tales from life, left us wanting more.
Our annual meeting will be held on Monday.
