THE work of Worcester Cathedral’s dedicated team of stonemasons is being showcased in a special exhibition this month.
The Cathedral Stonemasons, Ancient and Modern, runs until Sunday, November 29, and gives an insight into stonemasonry through the ages.
Worcester Cathedral is one of only nine cathedrals in England which supports its own team of stonemasons, including an apprenticeship programme. Susan MacLeod, operational manager at the cathedral said: “The exhibition isn’t just the usual information boards, but also has examples of our masons’ work, a Charlie Chaplin-style video by our masons telling their story which is guaranteed to make you smile and a workshop cleverly constructed by our masons within the Deans Chapel, which houses a model of a monastic mason at his workbench.”
