A FISHING club originally set up to keep youngsters busy over the summer has now become a permanent fixture.
Droitwich community support officer Andrea Leslie organised coaching sessions for eight to 17-year-old anglers during the six-week summer holidays.
The plan was to keep them busy and teach them new skills and offer an activity some of them would not normally have the opportunity to take part in.
But due to popular demand, CSO Leslie has formed junior angling club the Heriott Spartans with more than 50 youngsters signing up.
Funding for the project has been granted by the West Mercia Police Fund, Local Strategic Partnership and Positive Activities for Young People.
The club is also looking for donations of old fishing tackle and equipment.
Anyone interested in joining is asked to contact CSO Leslie by calling 0300 3333000.
