PEOPLE in Evesham have expressed their anger at the price increase on parking at the town’s new leisure centre.
Earlier this month, Wychavon District Council confirmed it would be increasing the charges by 600 per cent to 70p an hour from January, in a bid to discourage people from parking at the Abbey Road site all day.
But the decision has angered many gym users, who fear they will not be able to afford the inflated charges.
Robert Davies, whose petition last year helped lead to a reduction in charging times from 8am-6pm to 9am-4pm, said the council’s reasoning behind the increase was bogus.
“All they need to do is have a two to three hour window in the middle of the day and that would prevent that outcome,” he said.
