WITH swine flu in the headlines, Dr Richard Taylor made a timely visit to anti-bacterial specialists Dortrend International at Stourport-on-Severn in a bid to put fighting bacterial viruses in the spotlight.

The company, one of the leading manufacturers of door handles in the West Midlands, introduced Dr Taylor to TouchClean, an anti-bacterial coating which kills bacteria on surfaces, walls and equipment in hospitals and schools. Dortrend is the only distributor of TouchClean in the UK.

The Wyre Forest MP, a former consultant in general medicine and rheumatology at Kidderminster General Hospital, met Philip Dean, managing director of Dortrend, and Alan McDonald, commercial director, to discuss how TouchClean could help in the prevention of bacteria developing into killer viruses in UK hospitals.

They also talked about the recent swine flu epidemic, MRSA in hospitals and how the Government works to fight the persistent threat of viruses.

Dr Taylor said: “I was delighted to visit Dortrend to learn about their vital work to help in the fight against the transfer of infections.”
