A RECORD number of students from the University of Worcester will be presented with their degrees over the next three days at the annual graduation ceremonies.

This year, a total of 2,346 students are graduating and about 1,600 of them will take part in a colourful processions from the Guildhall to the cathedral, tomorrow Thursday and Friday.

The Duke of Gloucester, who became chancellor of the University of Worcester in 2007, will preside at one of the six ceremonies.

Vice-chancellor Professor David Green said: “This has been a most exciting year for the University of Worcester with a record number of graduates achieving high quality degrees in a range of subjects. Worcester Cathedral is a fitting venue to celebrate the achievements and dedication of our graduates, and to honour new university fellows and honorary MAs.

“Looking to the future, we know that our graduates will make an invaluable contribution to the growth and development of the region and wider society, and we are very proud of them.”

Each day, a colourful and impressive procession of academic staff in their robes will make their way to the cathedral, where the graduates will be honoured.

The graduates will be joined by 11 people who have been awarded honorary masters degrees or fellowships for their major contributions to society.
