ANTI-social behaviour is being tackled by police and local people during a week or special activities.
The Not In My Neighbourhood Week, which runs until Friday, is a Home Office initiative aimed at raising awareness of the work being done to tackle crime and anti-social behaviour.
Local policing teams from south Worcestershire will join representatives from other agencies to highlight the work they do every day to tackle anti-social behaviour as well as advise residents about how to tackle the problem.
Chief Inspector Jerry Reakes-Williams, who is in charge of local policing across South Worcestershire for West Mercia Police, said: “Local policing teams play a key and active part in their communities and spend at least 80 per cent of their time visibly working in their areas, often dealing with anti-social behaviour as well as diverting youngsters away from it with clubs, activities and advice.
“Anti-social behaviour is unacceptable. There is a range of measures available to us to address and deal with it but we need to continue to work with communities as well as communicate with those who may perceive some behaviour as anti-social when it may not be.
“Not In My Neighbourhood Week not only offers people the opportunity to get advice and information, it is also a chance for police and community support officers to demonstrate to their communities all that they do to keep them safe.”
