ORGANISERS of Worcester’s Victorian Christmas Fayre are looking for VIPs.

Tourism body VisitWorcester wants members of the public to become Visitor Information Patrollers - volunteer stewards who help visitors make the most of their stay in the city.

Posted to various locations around Worcester’s city centre, the easily identified patrollers will wear a festive sash.

Worcester resident Sue Nixon, who was VIP during last year’s street fair is encouraging others to sign up.

She said: “I learned lots from the experience and I certainly know more about Worcester than before. “The best thing was the people we met. I still keep in contact with some of the stallholders now.”

People who want to be VIPs will need to know their way around the city and have knowledge on the names of streets, public toilets, eating places and what certain shops sell.

Training courses will be provided.

The Christmas Fayre, now in its 17th year, will run from Thursday, November 26 to Sunday, November 29.
