A 77-year-old pensioner has been accused of sex offences against children - some of which are alleged to have taken place more than 36 years ago.
Belmont Prosser, of Chapel Cottage, Wyre Piddle, Pershore, pleaded not guilty at Worcester Crown Court to the attempted rape of a girl in 1973.
He has also denied six charges of indecent assault on the same girl and two charges of sexual activity with another girl.
Sharon Bahia, prosecuting, alleged that the attempted rape occurred when the girl was leaning over a cooker at her home. Prosser had also performed a sex act on her.
When she complained and said she was going to tell her mother, he threatened to kill them both.
Interviewed by police, he claimed that the girls had made up the allegations and that he was the subject of a "witch hunt."
The trial continues.
