A HOST of activities is being organised at a Worcester hostel and community centre on Friday.
Worcester YMCA is organising a Get Online Day for people so they can find out more about the internet together with a Halloween Fun event.
The Get Online Day, which is being celebrated nationally, will be held between 9.30am and 4pm.
Visitors to the centre in Henwick Road, Worcester, will be able to explore how the internet works and discover how easy it is to do everyday tasks.
There is no need to book and people can learn basic computer skills such as writing letters using MicrosoftWord. They can also find out about short courses to improve their employment skills.
There will also be the chance to talk to qualified members of staff about other training courses and workshops which are held at the YMCA.
Rachel Coss, learning and skills operations manager, said it was a relaxed course for anyone to enjoy.
She said: “People will be able to sample the computer course. It is held in a relaxed and friendly environment. The learning is online and tutors are also available for support.”
The Halloween event will run from 11am until 2pm.
People of all ages can take part in a number of activities, including face-painting, pumpkin carving, cake-decorating and make Halloween cards.
Visitors should take a Halloween hat or mask, or wear a fancy dress costume to enter the YMCA’s competition and win a prize.
The free event is suitable for all of the family but children must be supervised at all times.
Judging will take place at 1pm and 2pm.
Sallie Ryan, business development manager for YMCA Worcester, said the event had been organised for the past three years and been very successful.
She said: “It is a great community and family day and it brings a younger generation into contact with people from the local community, too.
“It also helps parents in keeping children entertained for the day. There is going to be a good range of activities for them to try and the feedback so far has been fantastic.”
