A TEENAGE student bit his girlfriend’s neck and ear after an argument at her home in Worcester, a court heard.

Joshua Brown pinned his partner down on her bed before he bit her resulting in three red marks being left on her skin.

Nineteen-year-old Brown admitted a charge of assault by beating when he appeared before Worcester’s magistrates.

Liam Finch, prosecuting, said the couple had previously split up because of violence in the relationship but had got back together three days before this attack happened after a night out on Wednesday, September 23.

“Brown was really drunk and an argument ensued with him telling her she should not be so self-opinionated,” he said. “They got back to her address where she decided the relationship should be terminated and she asked him to leave.”

After getting his stuff together Brown, who has a previous conviction for assault by beating from May, then set on his ex-girlfriend, Mr Finch said.

The court heard Brown, of Baldwin Road, Bewdley, caused £165 damage to the property during the incident. He has since paid the money to the landlord.

In mitigation Edward Gaynor-Smith said his client had accepted full responsibilty for what happened.

“He’s genuinely remorseful for what has occured,” he said. “On this occasion he was drunk, as was the victim, but he bitterly regrets his actions.”

Mr Gaynor-Smith said Brown apologised to his ex-partner after the attack and added they are now on talking terms.

Brown was sentenced to a 12-month community order with 120 hours unpaid work. He was also made to pay £100 compensation to the victim and £20 court costs.
