STUDENTS at the University of Worcester can become vital firstaiders thanks to the creation of a new St John Ambulance group.
Once qualified, members of St John Ambulance provide first aid at events across the West Midlands, including the Tough Guy Army-style assault course, Birmingham Carnival, the V Festival and Oasis concert at the Ricoh Arena.
Training for new members takes about three months to complete.
Richard Grimshaw, a trainee barrister, who coordinates all the St John student groups in the West Midlands, said: “LINKS (St John Ambulance student membership) provides students with a great opportunity to learn life-saving skills, develop transferable skills, boost their CVs and make a difference to the local community. Students make good friends with whom they work in a supportive environment.”
The Worcester group will meet on Tuesdays from 7pm-9pm. Anyone interested in becoming a student member of St John can call 0121 2373888 or e-mail links@wmids.sja.org.uk.
