THE Queen is the latest person to receive a copy of Hereford Police Male Choir’s latest CD Still Standing.
Brian Williams, the secretary of the Police Choir for a record 53 years, was at Buckingham Palace to receive his MBE, awarded by the Queen in her Birthday Honours list.
Mr Williams, a retired police inspector from Hindlip, Worcester, said: “Her Majesty asked if I was still singing and also sent her best wishes to the choir.
“I told her I had left a copy of our latest CD with the Master at Arms for her. She replied, ‘I am looking forward to it’.”
The choir has raised more than £800,000 for charities and the album Still Standing was recorded after the choir’s success on Last Choir Standing. Mr Williams’s wife Margaret, a talented amateur artist, accompanied him to the Palace and was delighted to be shown some of the Queen’s pictures by one of the ushers on duty.
