A Worcester Newsagent has been voted Independent Magazine Retailer of the Year.
Rob Harding, owner of two Good News stores in the city centre, was presented with his award at a ceremony at the Park Plaza Riverbank Hotel in London.
The award was made jointly by two trade associations – the National Federation of Retail Newsagents (NFRN) and the Periodical Publishers Association (PPA) – and recognises commitment to developing magazine sales and excellence and innovation in magazine retailing.
As well as magazines, Mr Harding’s shops in Foregate Street and The Cross stock your Worcester News and offer a home delivery and shop save service.
Good News was first opened by Mr Harding’s parents Malcolm and Verene in The Shambles 30 years ago. A second branch was opened in Foregate Street 24 years ago and after the original Shambles shop closed, another opened on The Cross seven years ago.
“It is very much a family business and my mother is still involved,” said Mr Harding. “It is just wonderful to win this award. It has been a real team effort.”
