SURVEYORS have just conducted an examination of the area where Worcester’s orbital road will be completed, assuming that it will eventually get the go-ahead.
One of the greatest mysteries of this long-running saga has been why some of Worcestershire’s leading Tories have decided to get into bed with Mike Foster.
Foxy wants the road finished so that his New Labour lebensraum plan to cover the county with concrete can be realised. What I fail to understand is why the Tories have fallen for this guff. Excuse me, but aren’t the Conservatives supposed to oppose New Labour?
I fully realised that the true blue backwoodsmen are mesmerised by the dream of shaving a minute or two off the time it takes to get from Northwick to Lower Wick, but I would have thought that the environment – not to mention lots of potential juicy Tory votes in Bevere, Lower Broadheath and Claines – might have been a consideration.
●A LARGE group of teenagers held a drinks party on Diglis playing fields. People living nearby were disturbed by the noise and the next day they were greeted with the sight of hundreds of cans and bottles littering the pitches.
Apparently, the police sent a helicopter to investigate. Now, call me old-fashioned, but wouldn’t it have been better if a few hairybottomed bobbies had waded in?
Meanwhile, across the city in St John’s, the long-suffering inhabitants are being tormented on a daily basis by the intoxicated children who are laughably still referred to as ‘students’.
A resident of the village-in-thecity tells me his retirement is being ruined by such behaviour. Are any politicians interested in the plight of such people? Not on your nelly.
