A RUGBY player was airlifted to hospital with neck and back injuries after he was hurt during a game.
Worcester Wanderers’ third team hooker Trevor Prout was injured during a match with Pershore Rugby Club’s third team on Saturday.
Stuart James, Worcester Wanderers’ director of rugby, said: “He was tackled and landed awkwardly. Play moved on but they went back to him and he was complaining of neck pain. He was airlifted to hospital.”
Paramedics and the Midlands Air Ambulance were called to the ground off Church Street, Wyre Piddle, about 4pm.
A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman confirmed a man believed to be in his 40s was arlifted to Worcestershire Royal Hospital for treatment.
Mr James said Mr Prout was discharged from hospital Saturday night.
“His neck brace is off and he’s fine,” he said.
